Athletes named for 10th SAG
Kathmandu, July 15:
The National Sports Council formed committee headed by Sita Ram Maskey picked up 15 athletes for the 10th South Asian Games.
Nirmala Bharati was selected in 10,000m and 4x400m relay along with Chandra Kala Thapa in 100m, 200m and 4x400m; Kanchi Maya Koju in 5,000m and 4x400m, Chhaya Khatri in 1,500m and 4x400m and Sabitri Nepali in 800m and 4x400m in the women’s events.
Rajendra Bhandari was picked up in 5,000m and 3,000m steeplechase while Arjun Kumar Basnet and Arjun Prasad Dhakal were named for Marathon. Also named were Yam Bahadur
Pudasaini and Akkal
Bahadur Bohara (10,000m), Gyan Bahadur Bohara (5,000m), Prem Mahat (1,500m and 800m), Gopal KC (100m), Bal Krishna Chaudhary (high jump) and Dhirendra Jung Shah (javelin throw).
Wushu
KATHMANDU: Nepal Wushu Association selected 12 players for the 10th SAG. In the men’s sansau Raj Kumar Rasaili (48-52kg), Beg Bahadur Pandey (56-60kg), Shyam Bista (6-65kg), Dhanbir Maharjan (65-70kg) and Bhusan Bajracharya (70-75) were named. Also selected in Thaulo events were Pancha Man Maharjan, Gautam Dangol and Macha Ratna Maharjan. Bhuvan Shrestha, Ruku Thapa and Bina Khadka were selected in the women’s Thaulo events.
