KATHMANDU: Kathmandu Badminton Academy celebrated the World Badminton Day with children at Bal Mandir here on Wednesday.
KBA organised a session for 45 girls at the Bal Mandir where the children got the opportunity to learn the basics of badminton from Nepal No 1 woman shuttler Rasila Maharjan and other players. Apart from playing with the players, the children also entertained themselves by dancing and singing.
KBA President Rita Bista handed over memento to Bal Mandir President Vidhya Upadhyaya Neupane. The KBA also donated kits used in the programme to Bal Mandir. KBA Secretary Deepak Thapa thanked Bal Mandir for making the World Badminton Day a special one. "We wanted to celebrate it differently this year and we felt really honoured to spend time with these children," he said.
Shuttler Maharjan announced to donate 10 per cent of her prize money for the education of children at Bal Mandir.
