Bajgai bags Surya Nepal Gokarna Monthly Medal

Devendra Bajgai won the seventh edition of the Surya Nepal Gokarna Monthly Medal here at the Gokarna Golf Club today.

Played under stroke play full handicap format, the 18-handicapper Bajgai played a round of six-under 66 to win the nett section trophy. Pavitra Kumar Karki came second with one-under 71, while Phintso Ongdi Lama was third on count back after he was tied on one-over 73 with Deepak Rajbhandary. Surendra Phuyal won the gross section trophy with the score of five-over 77 and Mayank Dahal claimed the junior category title with one-over 73 nett score.

A total of 32 golfers took part in the tournament sponsored by Surya Nepal Pvt Ltd. President of Gokarna Golf Club Suhrid Ghimire handed over the prizes to the winners of the tournament.

After the seven rounds, Surendra Phuyal is at the top of the nett section leaderboard with 285 points. Devendra Bajgai is second with 240 points, while Ang Dendi Sherpa is third with 150. Jigmay Dongstetsang is fourth with 130, while Pavitra Kumar Karki, Atmaram Simkhada, Dawa J Sherpa, Prabhakar Adhikari, Tendi Sherpa and Prithvi Malla share the fifth position with 100 points each.

Surendra Phuyal is also leader in gross section with 490 points, while Tashi Tshiring is second with 340. Wangchen Dhondup is third at 135, followed by Tashi Dong (125) and Prithvi Malla (100). Ang Phurba Sherpa leads junior section table with 380 points, whereas Mayank DahalĀ  is second with 375 and Arnav Shah third with 295.

A total of 10 monthly medal rounds will be played until December. Top 40 golfers in nett, 10 in gross and five in junior categories will make it to the two-legged Club Championship finals which will be played in January and February next year.
