BERLIN: Relegation-threatened Hertha Berlin has signed Georgia midfielder Levan Kobiashvili from Schalke, their second signing in a week. Hertha said on Sunday that the 32-year-old Kobiashvili was given a contract until the end of the season, which would be extended by two years if the team stays up. On Thursday, Hertha announced that they were taking Greece striker Theofanis Gekas on loan from Bundesliga leader Bayer Leverkusen until the end of the season. Hertha goes into the winter break last in the standings with six points from 17 games after losing 5-2 at Bayern Munich on Saturday.
