Bijay lift Simara Gold Cup title

Bijay Youth Club of Hetauda lifted the trophy of the Ruslan seventh Simara Gold Cup Football Tournament with a thrashing 4-0 victory over Rupandehi-XI here on Saturday.
In the final match played at the Simara Stadium, Bimal Rana scored a hat-trick, while Sunil Bal added another goal for the winning team. With the win, Bijay earned Rs 551,000, while Rupandehi received Rs 250,000.
Bijay took the lead in the match through the goal of Rana in the 21st minute when he headed home Sunil Bal’s corner. Bal doubled the lead for Bijay with a goal in the 58th minute as he utilised a pass from Sunil BK.
Rana netted his second and team’s third goal in the 59th minute to take complete control of the match. Rana completed his hat-trick in the 79th minute. Rana, who scored four goals in the tournament, received the highest scorer’s award and was also adjudged the player of the tournament. He received a motorcycle along with Rs 15,000. Suman Lama was named the man-of-the-match and he earned Rs 3,000.
Ashok Baral and Subin Ghimire of Bijay received the best goalkeeper and coach awards respectively. Shiva Shrestha, Devendra Tamang and Yogesh Gurung of Rupandehi were declared the best midfielder, defender and forward respectively. They earned Rs 15,000 each.
ANFA acting president Narendra Shrestha and president of Nava Jagriti Youth Club Kasim Miya handed over the prizes to the winners of the tournament. A total of 10 teams had participated in the tournament.
