KATHMANDU: Bijeshwori School won three gold medals on the opening day of the ninth Purna Man Bajracharya Memorial National Open Table Tennis Tournament here at the Lainchaur covered on Tuesday.

Anushka Simkhada beat Dipti Lamichhane of Arunima School 11-7, 11-7, 12-14, 11-7 in girls’ U-16 final, while Kritika Agrawal and Diya Magaiya finished joint third. In girls’ U-14 final, Mariya Thapa Magar beat Prakriti Gurung of Arunima 11-5, 11-3, 11-2, while Susmita Khadka saw off Anu Shrestha of Children’s Garden Academy 11-3, 11-4, 11-3 in girls’ U-12 final.

CCRC won girls’ team event gold beating Prime College 3-0 in college category, while Rajani Rai and Sangita Majhi won first and second positions respectively in women’s wheelchair category.

Earlier, Nepal Olympic Committee President Jeevan Ram Shrestha inaugurated the tournament.
