Bohara claims Hayata Cup

Kathmandu, October 15:

Moti Lal Bohara won the 16th Dr Hayata Cup Golf Tournament here at the RNGC today. Played at stableford full handicap format, the former Inspector General of Police accumulated net 42 points to win the title ahead of Purna Bahadur Rai, who earned 39 points. Gopal Chitrakar won the best gross award with 29 points. Maj Shaharsha Singh Limbu claimed the super senior (70 years and above) title held over the nine holes, while Maj Gen Nara Bahadur Burathoki finished second. Himalaya SJB Rana was second runner-up and MP Keshavan third runner-up in the super senior section.

Maj Man Bahadur Limbu accumulated 37 points to win the senior section tournament (55yrs and above) ahead of Maj Chandra Gurung, who earned 36 points on countback. Kalyani Moktan won the ladies title with 39 points. Shastika Shrestha came second with 32 points.

Ojasvi CB Singh won the longest drive award at Hole No 13 and Maj Lachhimi P Gurung was the golfer closest to the pin (Hole 17). Other winners include Shree Jaya Acharya (rookie), CB Bhandari (most birdies) and Brig Gen Mohan Bahadur Pandey (booby), Sher Bahadur Pandey (lucky 16th), Gyan P Karmacharya (most popular golfer), Neeraj SJB Rana regular golfer), and Maj Gen NB Burathoki and Lt Gen Chitra Bahadur Gurung (committed partners).

The event, one of the oldest tournaments, was sponsored by Khadga Jeet Baral. RNGC president Madhukar Yakthumba, former president SK Singh, Khadga Jeet Baral, and U Aung Khin Soe, Myanmar’s Ambassador to Nepal, gave away prizes to the winners.
