CAN announces 28 probables for SAG

KATHMANDU: Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) today called 28 probable players for the 11th South Asian Games slated for Dhaka from January 29 to February 9 next year.

According to the chief of the selection committee Arun Kumar Aryal, the age-group players — who made it to the final 18 for the recently concluded ACC Twenty20 Cup in the UAE — will automatically find their places in the last 18 for the regional games. Gyanendra Malla, Amrit Bhattarai, Naresh Budhayer and Binod Bhandari toured the UAE with the national team in the ACC Twenty20, while Chandra Saud was in the reserve list.

These five players will be in the final 18 for the SA Games squad regardless of their performance in the camp. Other 13 players will be picked up from among the Under-19 and U-17 players called for the closed camp and practice matches, said CAN in a release. The camp starts from Saturday.

Apart from the five players picked from the ACC T20 Championship, others called for the camp were Pushpa Thapa, Akash Gupta, Antim Thapa, Prem Budal, Sunny Pun, Lal Bahadur Adhikari, Rom Shrestha, Rupesh Kumar Srivastav, Prithu Banskota, Nabin Shahi, Jatashankar Sarraf, Anil Kumar Mandal, Anupam Singh, Amit Shrestha, Bibek Dali, Suvendu Pandey, Pradeep Airee, Bhuwan Karki, Akash Pariyar, Sagar Pun, Avinash Karn, Lokendra Chand and Ritesh Singh.
