CAN go down against BCB

Kathmandu, November 23:

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) Under-17 team registered a comfortable eight-wicket victory over the hosts Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) U-17 team in first of the three one-day friendly matches here at the Tribhuvan University Stadium today.

Put into bat first by BCB skipper Jayanto Das, CAN were bowled out for a paltry 62 runs in 30.3 overs. The visitors overcame the total for the loss of two wickets in 27.2 overs. Pradeep Ayree top scored with 35-ball 17 for the hosts, who are under closed camp for the upcoming ACC Under-17 Elite Cup scheduled here from February 4-13. None of the other CAN batsmen could score in double figures as the entire team wilted under a sharp BCB bowling.

Man of the match Mohammad Sentu was the pick of the BCB bowlers with 3-12 from six overs. Mehdi Hasan (2-4) and Asif Hasan (2-13) picked up two wickets each while Dewan Shabbir, Abu Zayed and Mamum Hussain bagged one wicket apiece.

With only 63 runs to win, BCB started their run chase cautiously and surpassed the total in 27.2 overs but not before losing two wickets. Opener Ashiqul Alam scored unbeaten 17 off 89 deliveries and Mehdi Hasan remained not out on 12. Amandeep singh and Krishna Karki claimed one wicket each for the hosts.

Ahmed for 14 runs in the 20th over. The two teams will meet again on Monday and Wednesday before playing a two-day match begining on Friday.
