KATHMANDU: Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) and Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) today launched a promotional music video to celebrate the ICC Centenary Year 2009.
The music video, Mero Desh Pyaro Nepal, was produced by the CAN and
NTB as per the instruction of the
International Cricket Council (ICC). Surya Thapaliya is the director of the music video, while Pramod Kharel is the singer, lyricist and musician.
“We prepared the music video to inspire nationalism through cricket,” said Thapaliya. “It took us about nine months to prepare the video and it is a small gift from part to the cricket and cricketers,” he added. “We tried our best to develop sense of belongingness in the wake of the ICC World Cricket League Division-V Tournament,” he added. “The U-17 victory at the TU Stadium also helped our theme as we got lots of footage from that tournament,” added Thapaliya.
CAN President Binay Raj Pandey said the association joined hands with the NTB to celebrate the ICC’s centenary year. “Last year the ICC instructed all the member countries to do something to celebrate the year and we decided to produce the music video,” said Pandey. “We are the only member country that has produced the music video,” he added. “Tourism will be one of the main beneficiaries if sports get developed in the country,” he said. CEO of NTB Prachanda Man Shrestha said the music video was the very good combination of sports and tourism.
