Cash prize for shooters

LALITPUR: Nepal Shooting Association (NSA) announced an award package for medal winning shooters in the 10th South Asian Games in Colombo.

According to the NSA president Kishor Bahadur Karki, gold medallists would get Rs Rs 100,000 while silver medallists will recieve Rs 50,000 and bronze winners will get Rs 35,000.

The association handed over tracksuits and T-shirts to shooters and coaches at a farewell programme on Tuesday. The squad will leave for Sri Lanka on Wednesday. — HNS

Monsoon Meet :

KATHMANDU: Gyan Niketan and Gyanodaya defeated Shuvatara School in the junior boys’ match of the Monsoon Meet Inter-school Basketball Tournament here today.

Shuvatara went down 5-17 against Gyan Niketan and went on to lose 2-19 to Gyanodaya. In the senior boys’ section, RIBS defeated Gyan Niketan 69-29. BGA beat Shuvatara 33-27 while Gyanodaya beat Sambotta 43-42.

The quarter-finalists in the junior boys event are St Xavier’s, Gyan Niketan, Intensive, Gyanodaya Bal Batika, Excelsior, RIBS, Shridiwa and South Point.

RIBS, Gyan Niketan, Excelsior, BGA, Wilson Academy, Gyanodaya, Shridiwa and St Xavier’s made it to the last eight in the senior boys section while Alphas, Gyan Niketan, HIMS, Holy Garden, Shridiwa, Rato Bangla (blue), Rato Bangla (green) and Gyanodaya entered the girls’ quarter-finals. — HNS
