Casino Everest beat BoK; enter last four

KATHMANDU: Roshan Bam’s allround performance helped Casino Everest register a narraw five-run victory over Bank of Kathmandu (BoK) and enter the semi-finals of the UWTC Inter-corporate Twenty20 Cricket Tournament here on Thursday.

Electing to bat first, Casino Everest scored 145-6 in their allotted 20 overs before restricting BoK for 140 in 19.2 overs. Daman Chand top scored with a fluent 35 off 30 balls and Roshan made 32 off 41 for Casino Everest. Sanjay Shrestha contributed 24 off 15 with one six and three boudaries. Sagun Shrestha claimed 2-35 for BoK.

In reply, BoK were dismissed six runs short of their victory target with four balls to spare. Sagun Shrestha and Abhaya Rana had injected hopes in the BoK camp with major contributions. Sagun scored fiery 30-ball 41 with four fours and two sixes while Abhaya made 30 off 22 with two fours and a six.

Pramatheshwar Shah scored 17 and Prashant Shrestha 13. Man of the match, Roshan Bam and Arun Chand picked three wickets each for Casino Everest and Sanjay Shrestha grabbed two.

Meanwhile, Nepal Telecom defeated Casino Shangri-La by 67 runs in the rain-affected Group ‘A’ match. Nepal Telecom scored 153-9 in 20 overs but the target was reduced to 121 in 15 overs due to rain. Casino Shangri-La could only manage 53 in 14.3 overs. Naresh Budhayer scored 43 off 32 balls and Binit Sharma and Hari Krishna Sharam chipped in with 29 and 25 runs respectively for Nepal Telecom. Puskar Nath Yogi took 3-38 for Casino Shangri-La.

Casino Shangri-La were never in contention chasing 121. Lok Ayer top scored with 14 and Sanjeev Karki made 10 for Shangri-La. Man of the match, Naresh Budhayer returned to take 3-20 for Nepal Telecom. Madhu Sudan and Sudeep Sharma also took two wicket each.
