Casino Everest in final

KATHMANDU: Casino Everest defeated Nepal SBI Bank by seven wicket to enter the final of the UWTC Inter-corporate Twenty20 Cricket Tournament here today.

Batting first, SBI Bank were dismissed for 101 runs in 18.3 overs before Casino Everest surpassed the total losing three wickets in 11.3 overs. Monish Shrestha was the star performer for the SBI Bank scoring a magnificent half century. Monish struck eight boundaries and two sixes in his 39-ball 55. Min Bahadur Gurung contributed 25 off 31 balls with three hits to the fence and a six. Man of the match Rajeev Saud was the pick of the Casino Everest bowlers with 4-22 from four overs. Arun Chand, Bedendra Gupta and Roshan Bam also grabbed one wicket apiece.

Arun Chand scored an unbeated 28 of 21 runs and Shankar Thapa made 19-ball 27 in reply for Casino Everest. Both Arun and Shankar struck five boundaries each. Daman Chand also chipped in with 19. Milan Shrestha and Abhishek Sharma took one wicket each for Nepal SBI Bank.

Meanwhile, star-studded Sunrise Bank qualifed for the semi-finals with a 10-wicket win over Everest Bank today. Sunrise will play Group 'A' winner Nepal Telecom for a place in the final on Wednesday.

Electing to bat first, Everest Bank were all out for 65 runs in 16.4 overs before Sunrise chased the total without losing a wicket in just 4.4 overs. Yogesh Shrestha (15), Shrawan Bista (12) and Santosh Shrestha (11) were the major contributors in the Everest Bank's meagre total. Dipendra Chaudhary took 3-14 and Nitesh Gorkhali claimed 2-12 for Sunrise. Paras Khadka and Prasiddha Raj Aryal also took one wicket each.

Dipendra single-handedly guided Sunrise home with a scintillating knock of 46 runs. Dipendra struck four sixes and as maby fours in his unbeaten 21-ball 46. His opening partner Dipesh Sharma made six not out and faced just seven balls during the onslaught.
