CCRC, Triton enter semis
Kathmandu, December 20:
Rajesh Kumar struck an explosive century to guide Capital College and Research Center (CCRC) to 96-run win over National Institute of Science and Technologies (NIST) and a place in the semi-finals of the second Aaditya Memorial Inter-college Twenty20 Cricket Tournament today. Triton College also made it to the last four with a six-wicket win over Classic College.
CCRC scored 193-7 from 20 overs before restricting NIST to 97 in 18 overs. In the other match, Classic scored 102-8 in 18 overs and Triton surpassed the total losing four wickets in 15 overs.
CCRC were struggling at 17-3 in the third over before Rajesh Kumar took charge of the game scoring runs at will. Man of the match Rajesh made unbeaten 113 and his 61-ball knock included 17 fours and a six. Rupesh Shrivastav (24) was the only other major contributor. Umesh Karn took 3-35 and Deep Rana claimed 2-38 from four overs for NIST. For NIST, opener Ronald Dulal fought a lonely battle with a superb 58-ball 56. Dulal, who hit eight boundaries, was the seventh NIST wicket to fall. Safal Ghimire also chipped in with 21. Binit Satyal took 3-14 while Rupesh Shrivastav, Sameer Nepal, Bibek Jha and Sumit Shrestha claimed one wicket each for CCRC.
In another match, Krishna Bista top-scored with 21 runs in Classic College’s 102-8. Naresh Budhayer (17), Kiran Buddha (14) and Gokul Joshi (11 not out) also chipped in valuable runs to help Classic post a respectable total. Bijay Gautam and Indra Kamal Manandhar took two wickets each for Triton. Sanjeet Sah and Ritesh Singh also bagged one wicket apiece.
In reply, Indra Kamal scored unbeaten 28 to guide Triton to an easy victory. Man of the match Indra Kamal hit five fours in his 22-ball knock. Robin Joshi also contributed 14 and Aashik Sharma run-a-ball 11. Raj Kumar Karki, Naresh Budhayer and Bhuwan Karki picked up one wicket apiece for Classic.
