Clinton, Valley Public claim championships

Kathmandu, June 27:

Clinton School won the boys’ and Valley Public School claimed the girls’ championships here at the first Kwik’s Ideal Inter-school Basketball Tournament today.

Clinton overcame a tough challenge before prevailing 28-27 over Jagat Vidhya Mandir. Binayak Kandel scored 10 points for Clinton while Juman Adhikari top-scored with 18 points for Jagat Vidhya Mandir.

In the girls’ final, Valley Public defeated Mahendra Bhawan 36-23. Susmita Malla netted 11 for Valley Public while Shiwa Karmacharya contributed 12 points for Mahendra Bhawan.

Sri Krishna Shrestha earned the Most Valuable Player (MVP) award in the boys’ section and Sami Tamang of Valley Public won the MVP honour in the girls’ section. Suman Sherpa of Unique School and Susmita Malla of Valley Public won the best three-pointer awards. Likewise, Juman Adhikari finished the highest scorer (96) in the boys’ section while Sima Karki of Mahendra Bhawan was the leading scorer (63) in the girls’ section.

President of Nepal Basketball Association Lama Tendi Sherpa and Director of Ideal English School Purna Lama among others gave away the awards.
