Clinton School won the boysâ€™ and Valley Public School claimed the girlsâ€™ championships here at the first Kwikâ€™s Ideal Inter-school Basketball Tournament today.
Clinton overcame a tough challenge before prevailing 28-27 over Jagat Vidhya Mandir. Binayak Kandel scored 10 points for Clinton while Juman Adhikari top-scored with 18 points for Jagat Vidhya Mandir.
In the girlsâ€™ final, Valley Public defeated Mahendra Bhawan 36-23. Susmita Malla netted 11 for Valley Public while Shiwa Karmacharya contributed 12 points for Mahendra Bhawan.
Sri Krishna Shrestha earned the Most Valuable Player (MVP) award in the boysâ€™ section and Sami Tamang of Valley Public won the MVP honour in the girlsâ€™ section. Suman Sherpa of Unique School and Susmita Malla of Valley Public won the best three-pointer awards. Likewise, Juman Adhikari finished the highest scorer (96) in the boysâ€™ section while Sima Karki of Mahendra Bhawan was the leading scorer (63) in the girlsâ€™ section.
President of Nepal Basketball Association Lama Tendi Sherpa and Director of Ideal English School Purna Lama among others gave away the awards.
