Kathmandu, December 16:

The second CMS Cup Pro-Am Golf Tournament tees off here at the Royal Nepal Golf Club (RNGC) from Monday.

The event, organised by College of Medical Science (CMS), Bharatpur and sponsored by International Society of Medical Education (ISME), features tournaments in two categories - Professional and Amateur.

The pro tournament will be held from December 17-20 over 72 holes. A total of 22 professional golfers from across the country and 24 single-handicap amateurs including six caddies from the CMS Caddies Tournament held last week will rub their shoulders for the total cash prize of Rs 300,000. The prize money was increased from last year’s Rs 100,000. The winner will take home Rs 65,000. Deepak Thapa Magar is the defending champion.

The event is special for three golfers Deepak Baral, Ravi Khadka and Surya Prasad

Sharma as they are turning pros from this tournament.

The amateur tournament will be held on December 21 and 22 with more than 100 golfers taking part. The tournament will be held under 7/8 stableford handicap format.
