Coca-Cola Cup kicks off in July

Kathmandu, June 14

All Nepal Football Association is set to organise the ninth Coca-Cola Cup Inter-school National Football Tournament from July 7.

The U-16 football competition for both boys and girls will be played among the schools from 43 districts affiliated to ANFA in different three levels — district level in first phase, regional level in second phase and central level in the final phase.

The district tournaments will be held from July 7-28, while regional  events are slated for August 13-25 at six venues of five development regions. Similarly, the central level matches will be played in Kathmandu from September 8-17.

The winners and runners-up in the both categories will earn Rs 300,000 and Rs 100,000 respectively, while teams finishing third will get Rs 50,000 each. The best goalkeeper, defender, midfielder and forward will also be awarded.

Bottler’s Nepal Limited Managing Director Puneet Varshney said: “The Coca-Cola Cup is aimed at providing young Nepali football enthusiasts with an opportunity to nurture their talent and cultivate their football skills. Coca-Cola has globally supported football and inspired the younger generation to watch and play the game they love.”

Varshney added: “Our partnership with ANFA provides a platform for youth athletes, to produce accomplished players that can eventually play for the national team. Through the Coca-Cola Cup, we hope to continually inspire and recruit the next generation of Nepali footballers,”  said.

Similarly, Country Director of Coca-Cola Company Ambuj Singh said he was happy to contribute in the grassroot football tournament in Nepal.

“I am convinced that the tournament will help dedicated football lovers to accomplish their dreams to participate and give their best performance for the benefit of national football team,” he said.
