Corporate Cricket Cup from November 7

Nepal Sports Management is organising the second Coca-Cola Corporate Indoor Cricket Cup at the Velocity Arena from November 7-12.

A total of 12 corporate houses will compete in the tournament to be played under league-cum-knockout format, informed Event Manager Madhumita Bhatta at a press meet today.

Each team comprises seven players and a bowler will get chance to bowl a maximum of two overs, while teams can also field female cricketers, according to the organisers. In a major change of rules, the organisers have omitted leg before the wicket.

The participating 12 teams have divided into four groups with the top two advancing to the quarter-finals after league round. Surya Nepal, Mega Bank and Shangri-la Spirits are in Group A, while Premier Insurance, Ncell ‘A’ and Appon have been pitted in Group B. Similarly, Group C comprises Australian Embassy, SBI Bank and Ncell ‘B’, while Radisson Hotel, Bottlers Nepal and Yeti Airlines are in Group D.

The winners and runners-up of the tournament along with the player of the tournament, the best bowler and batsman and man-of-the-match will get trophies and gift hampers. The estimated budget of the tournament is one million rupees. Bottlers Nepal is the main sponsor of the tournament and they will provide the organisers with cash and kind worth Rs 300,000.

Bottlers Nepal’s Deputy General Managar Bringa Shrestha said the company wanted to involve in cricket events. “We will continue our support to the event in the days to come,” said Shrestha.
