KATHMANDU: CPN-UML has decided to remove Minister for Youth and Sports Purushottam Paudel from the Cabinet on Sunday, after he failed to oblige to the party's directive to revoke the appointment of Keshav Kumar Bista as the Member-Secretary of National Sports Council.

Paudel had unilaterally appointed Bista for the NSC top post, without the party's consent.

Moreover, notwithstanding the tradition of appointing the NSC Member-Secretary from the Cabinet, Paudel had made the appointment in the ministerial level only.

Bista is said to be close to leader Madhav Kumar Nepal.

Earlier, the party had asked Paudel to withdraw the appointment or put in papers.
