Cricket World Cup trophy to be brought to Basantapur Durbar Square today

KATHMANDU: The Cricket World Cup trophy which is in its maiden tour of Nepal is set to be brought to the Basantapur Durbar Square today afternoon.

The trophy will make tour of Basantapur Durbar Square before travelling to India late afternoon, said ICC Nepal representative Bhabana Ghimire. Earlier on Sunday evening, the cup was presented to President Bidya Devi Bhandari.

The coveted trophy was brought to Nepal on Friday as part of the ICC Cricket World Cup Trophy Tour ahead of the world cup in England and Wales from May 30 to July 14, 2019.

Prior to its arrival in Nepal, it had made stops in Oman, the United States of America, West Indies, Sri Lanka, Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates. Sponsored by the Nissan Company, the cup will be put on display in 60 cities of 21 countries.
