Dahal, Bhatta claim titles

Kathmandu, February 27

Prince Dahal of Nepal Police Club and Ranjan Bhatta of Mahendranagar won the titles of the Digicom School Badminton Championship here at the National Sports Council today.

In U-14 boys’ section final, Dahal defeated Jebi Saud from Galaxy School of Dhangadhi 21-8, 21-7. In girls’ category, Bhatta edged past Rashil Maharjan from Ideal Model School of Lalitpur 19-21, 21-18, 21-10.

Safal Thapa of Kathmandu and Priyansu Chhetri of Future Star Academy came third in boys’ section, while Samikshya Neupane of West Zone School (Nepalgunj) and Seema Rajbansi from Morang did so in girls’ category.

In U-12 boy’s category, Santosh Paneru of United Public School (Mahendranagar) defeated Samyojan Bohora 21-13, 21-16, while Rashila Maharjan of Ideal Model beat Bisna Bista from Mahendranagar International School 21-8, 21-5 to win the girls’ section title.

Rose Pandey of Rastriya Adars Bidhya Mandir (Morang) and Rabina Tamang of Nepal Police Club finished third in girls’ section, while Roshan Saud and Sandesh Singh of Dhangadi came third in boys’ category.

The winners received gift hampers, whereas their coaches were awarded with cash prizes. President of Nepal Olympic Committee Jeevan Ram Shrestha, President of Himalayan Badminton Association Mohan Bahadur Shahi, President of High Tech Engineering Arun Bansal and President of Kathmandu District Badminton Association Deepak Thapa handed over the prizes to the winners.
