Dayananda wins Soaltee Cup

Kathmandu, May 10:

Sumitra Dayananda won the Soaltee Crowne Plaza Annual Golf Tournament here at the Royal Nepal Golf Club (RNGC) organised by Soaltee Crowne Plaza to mark the first anniversary of an Indian restaurant Kakori-Cuisine E-xquisite.

Played under stableford 7/8 handicap format, Dayananda accumulated 40 points to win the trophy in the overall category. Tashi Ghale, who scored 39 points, won the men’s section trophy, while Niraj Rana came second with 36 points. Raj Pradhan accumulated 30 points to win the best gross award.

Kalyani Moktan came first in the ladies section with 31 points, while Shastika Shrestha earned 29 points to grab the runner-up trophy. Capt Machhindra Bahadur Rai won the senior section award on count back after he was tied with Lt Gen Chitra Bahadur Gurung. Both the golfers scored 34 points.

Other winners included Tashi Sherpa (most birdies), Indra Lamichhane (closest to the pin at Hole No 18), Shreejay Acharya (longest drive at Hole No 11), Vivek Rana (closest to the pin at Hole No 5) and Waseem Azmat (wooden spoon).

A total of 83 golfers, including seven ladies, took part in the one-day event.

Indian legendray actor Dev Anand, Chairman Emiritus of Soaltee Hotel Limited Prabhakar SJB Rana, Executive Chairman Dinesh Bista, General Manager Greesh Bindra, RNGC President Madhukar Yakthumba among others gave away prizes to the winners.
