Deminy, Rahane steer Mumbai to victory

PORT ELIZABETH: Batsmen Ajinkya Rahane and JP Duminy, who was later adjudged the man of the match, steered Mumbai to 16-run victory over Bangalore.

The duo shared a partnership of 104 to take the Indians from 53 for two to 157 for two and lay the foundation for much waited victory.

Rahane struck 62 off 49 balls and Duminy 59 off 41 before the Mumbai bowlers finished the job.

Dhawal Kulkarni, Lasith Malinga, Dwayne Bravo, Chetanya Nanda and Harbhajan Singh were all among the wickets as Mumbai limited their opponents to 141 for seven.

Harbhajan was the most successful Mumbai bowlers with two for 15 from his four overs.

In the Bangalore innings, batsman Mark Boucher fought a lone battle with an impressive unbeaten 48, but it was already too late to lead the side to vicory. Virat Kohli chipped in a handy useful 20.

Despite a promising start for Bangalore when Vinay Kumar removed dangerman Sachin Tendulkar for a three-ball duck, Bangalore could not capitalise on it. Sanath Jayasuriya managed 29 before he out lbw but the Rahane-Duminy partnership changed the course of the game.
