Bajgai claims sixth edition title of Monthly Medal

Devendra Bajgai won the sixth edition of the Surya Nepal Gokarna Monthly Medal here at the Gokarna Golf Club today.

Played under stroke play full handicap format, the 23-handicap amateur Bajgai carded seven-under 65 nett to finish first. Babu Sherpa was runner-up with the score of three-under 69, while Prabhakar Adhikari came third on count back after he was tied on even-par 72 with Madhav Acharya.

Wangchen Dhondup won the gross section trophy with the score of three-over 75, while Mayank Dahal was the best among the junior golfers at even-par 72. In all, 32 players took part in the event sponsored by Surya Nepal Pvt Ltd. Nepal Golf Association President Tashi Ghale handed over the prizes to the winners.

With the victory, Bajgai moved up to second position in the nett section table. Rabindra Tiwari leads the scoreboard with 240 points, while Bajgai accumulated 180. Prithivi Malla is third at 150, whereas Pavitra Karki and Prabhakar Adhikari share fourth position with 140 points.

In gross section, Prithivi Malla is at the top of the table with 400 points, while Gopal Chitrakar is a distant second with 225. Babu Sherpa is third with 120 points, whereas Ang Tshiring Sherpa is fourth with 110 points. Robin Rana and Wangchen Dhondup are tied on fifth with 100 points. In junior category, Sam Doublard leads the table with 375 points, followed by Arnav Shah (345) and Tanush Sanghai (235).

A total of 10 monthly medal rounds will be played until December and top 40 golfers in nett category, 10 in gross section and the five best junior golfers will make it to the Club Championships. The finals will be played over two rounds in January and February next year to decide the champions.
