Don Bosco win, HICAST disqualified

Kathmandu Don Bosco College defeated College of Information Technology (CIT) by 34 runs and Acme Engineering College were declared the winners after their opponents Himalayan College of Agriculture Sciences and Technology (HICAST) were disqualified in the quarter-final matches of the third KCC Running Trophy Inter-college Cricket Tournament, here today.

The tournament has been organised by KCC Sports Club and The Himalayan Times is the official media. Batting first, Don Bosco scored 123/7 in 22 overs. Roshan Shrestha top-scored with 34 off 32 balls including seven boundaries and man of the match Ashish Gupta made 31 off 28 balls, which included five fours. For CIT, Ayaja Rajbanshi and Amod Acharya took two wickets each.

In reply, CIT were packed off for just 84 runs. Mayoush Kuikel was the highest scorer in the innings with 15 runs, whereas Dorji Sherpa and Abhishek Chauhan scored 10 runs each. For Don Bosco, Rupak Gautam took 3-16 in 4.5 overs, while Arjun Rayamajhi and Ashish Gupta claimed two wickets each. In an earlier match, ACME had 149/2 in 20 overs, with Saroj Basnet scoring a quick fire unbeaten 61 off 52 balls, including seven fours. Dhire-ndra Mishra remained unbe-aten on 24 off nine balls hitting three sixes, and Prash-ant Pradhan scored 28 runs. But the match took a turn in the 17th over, when HICAST sent a substitute player to bat, compelling the organisers to disqualify them. In Monday’s semi-finals, it’s: ACME vs Himalayan White House, and Kathmandu Don Bosco vs Eastern Engineering College.
