Draws not enough for Boro to survive, says Gestede

Relegation-threatened Middlesbrough have to fight for wins instead of settling for draws if they want to remain in the Premier League this season, striker Rudy Gestede has said.

Gestede scored his first goal for Middlesbrough in Sunday's 3-1 defeat by Manchester United with the loss extending the side's winless streak to 11 league matches, a run that has seen them slip to 19th in the table, five points adrift of safety.

"If we want to stay up, we have to fight and win games -- we can't wait for a draw," the 28-year-old Benin international told the club's website. (www.mfc.co.uk)

"We have to go for it and (on Sunday) we showed a good mentality. We were all together. I think it's a good start for the next 10 games."

Middlesbrough travel to the Liberty Stadium after the international break to face 17th-placed Swansea City, who are three points above the relegation zone.
