Lalitpur, March 17:

Lalitpur District Sports Development Committee (DSDC) felicitated the players of the district who won medals at the ninth SAF Games held in Islamabad last year. NSC member secretary Kishor Bahadur Singh gave away cash prizes and letters of felicitation to the winners. Karate gold medallist Deepak Shrestha recieved Rs 10,000, while Ganga Ram Maharjan and Ravi Maharjan got Rs 5,000 each for winning bronze medals in karate. Rajendra Kapali earned Rs 10,000 for finishing third in the team event and mixed doubles in table tennis, while Rabindra Shakya got Rs 5,000 for his third spot in the team event. The organisers also honoured Purushottam Bajracharya and Samjhana Khadka for finishing third in team events at the South Asian Junior Table Tennis Tournament in New Delhi last year. Three Star Club, who won the Martyrs’ Memorial League last year, was also honoured on the occasion. CDO Sthaneshwor Devkota bade farewell to coaches Brijendra Hamal and Nabin Suwal (table tennis), Sunil Lal Joshi (weight lifting), Birat Krishan Shrestha (football) and Prachanda Sharma (boxing), who were transferred to other districts.
