Eagles fire Kelly

LOS ANGELES: Chip Kelly, who left the University of Oregon in 2013 to sign a multi-million dollar contract with the Philadelphia Eagles, was fired by the National Football League team on Tuesday.

“We appreciate all the contributions that Chip Kelly made and wish him every success going forward,” Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie said.

Pat Shurmur will take over as interim head coach for the Eagles’ regular-season finale against the New York Giants this Sunday.

Kelly was 26-21 in three seasons with the Eagles after signing a five year, $32.5m contract in 2013.
