The history of EURO dates back to 1958 but was earlier was known as the European Nations Cup. It saw only four nations qualify for the finals and didn’t change until 1980s when eight teams qualified. However, the tournament was first conceived in 1927 when French Football Federation member Henri Delaunay came up with idea of holding a European national tournament. The first year of the event was held in France and was named as the Henri Delaunay Cup.

Soviet Union claimed the first edition held in Paris when they downed Yugoslavia 2-1 after extra time. Since then several champions have emerged. The tournament, European Championship, in itself has completed more than two decades but yet the charm is growing everyday.

Over the years, EURO saw the change in its stature, logos and mascots as well as their sponsors. The major change in the logo came with the EURO 1996 in England. With the new logo and the mascots Trix and Flix, EURO 2008 is all set to unleash the best soccer emotions, after all EURO declares “Expect Emotions”.
