Falgunanda Gold Cup semis kick off from today

PANCHTHAR: The semi-final matches of the 10th Ruslan Falgunanda Gold Cup are being held in Phidim, the Panchthar district headquarters from today.

The first semi-final match will be held between Saraswoti Club Kathmandu and Jhapa-11 at 3:00 pm today, the organisers of the tournament informed. Similarly, the Royal Football Club will face off Tribhuvan Army Club in the next match tomorrow.

A total of 10 "A" division teams from three Nepali divisional teams and one Indian team participated in the tournament jointly organised by the Phidim Sporting Club and Panchthar District Football Association.

Along with the host Phidim Sporting Club, Sunsari, APF, Taplejung, Morang and Boys Union have already been eliminated from the tournament.

It has been reported that the winning team will bag Rs. 400,000 while the runners-up will receive Rs. 200,000. Both the teams playing the final match will also be honoured with medals, trophies and certificates.

The tournament is being held in honour of Falgunanda Lingden, the 16th national luminary of Nepal. The tournament has been organised according to the All Nepal Football Association's annual calendar.
