Far-west send Three Star packing, Morang, Saraswoti settle for draw

Lalitpur, June 17

Sudur Biscuit Far-west Football Club defeated Ruslan Three Star Club 2-1, while Saraswoti Youth Club and Buddha Air Morang Football Club played a 2-2 stalemate in the Lalit Memorial U-18 Football Tournament matches here at the ANFA Complex grounds today.

The second consecutive defeat meant Three Star Club crashed out of the group stage of the tournament organised in memory of their club President Lalit Krishna Shrestha, who passed away on June 11 last year because of electrocution on the first night at his new residence in Bhaisepati.

With the victory, Far-west made it to the knock out stage along with CMG Club Sankata, who were not in action today.

Three Star, who went down to Sankata in the first match, took the lead with an early goal from Susan Shrestha in the ninth minute. Jeevan Chaudhary levelled the scores for Far-west in the 26th minute.

Far-west skipper Kamal Deuba then produced the winning goal of the match in the 84th minute.

Earlier, Saraswoti twice came from behind to share points with Morang. Sachin Raj Rai put Morang ahead in the sixth minute, while Kshitiz Bhandari levelled the scores for Saraswoti in the 31st minute.

After the break, Bidur Rijal restored Morang’s lead in the 65th minute before Kshitiz salvaged a draw for Saraswoti with his second goal of the match in the 80th minute.
