Kathmandu, January 16:

Bijay Mahat scored two goals as Friends Club came from behind to beat United Youth Club 2-1, and Saraswati Youth Club beat Naxal Youth Association 2-0 in the Martyrs’ Memorial ‘B’ Division League Football Tournament here at Dasharath Stadium today.

United Club took lead through Prem Kumar Subba in the 34th minute when he headed home a goal on Jaghu Nath Khadka’s corner kick. For Friends, Mahat scored the first goal in the 39th minute dodging three defenders and guided the ball alone from 25 yards before firing into the net from the right. In the first half injury time, Mahat added another goal, which happened to be the decider at the end of the match. In another match, Data Ram Nepal scored two goals in ten minutes as Saraswati edged out Naxal Youth Club 2-0. Nepal’s first goal came in the fourth minute and added another five minutes later.

Meanwhile, the organisers postponed Monday’s matches — Machindra Club vs Sano Gaucharan Youth Club and Kalika Mandir Sports Club vs Tushal Youth Club — because of technical reasons. The matches will be played on Tuesday.
