Galatasaray banned from Europa League as CAS appeal rejected

LAUSANNE: The Court of Arbitration has rejected Galatasaray's bid to overturn its one-season ban from UEFA competitions for breaking financial fair play rules.

Galatasaray qualified for the Europa League by winning the Turkish Cup but it had already had the sanction imposed by UEFA, which ordered the club to control its wage bill.

A CAS panel dismissed the Galatasaray appeal, saying UEFA regulations had been "properly applied."
