Kathmandu, June 15:

Ganesh High School defeated Budhanilkantha School 3-2 on penalties and entered the Group G final of the selection tournament for the Coca Cola Inter-school National Football Tournament.

The match went to tie-breaker after both the teams were deadlocked at 1-1 in the regulation time. Abhishekh Thapa put Budhanilkantha ahead in the 59th minutem, while Mukesh Shahi scored the equaliser four minutes later. In Group I, Patan Higher Secondary School, Siddhartha Vanasthali and Laboratory Secondary School entered the quarter-finals.

Patan earned a walk over win from Golden Sungava, while Hari Khadka scored in the solitary goal in the 40th minute as Laboratory edged past Grammar Public School 1-0. In the other match, Siddhartha Vanasthali routed Ganesh Himal 9-0. Buddha Lama scored five goals alone on nine, 16, 35, 40 and 70 minutes, while Pradeep Magar struck in the 28th and 66th minutes. Ummeed Acharya and Sunil Bhandari also joined the party.
