The Golfer Pilots NPGA Classic is beginning here at the Royal Nepal Golf Club on Wednesday.

The 54-hole tournament — sixth event under the Surya Nepal Golf Tour 2018-19 — will be played at two venues. The first 36 holes will be played at the par-68 RNGC course on Wednesday and Thursday, while the final round is slated for Friday at the par-72 Gokarna Golf Club, informed Nepal PGA in a release today.

Pilot-cum-golfers Capt Rabindra Purush Dhakal, Capt Deepak Thapaliya and Capt Vijay Pratap Singh are the main sponsors of the event, while Rara Instant Noodles, BB Airways and Sherpa Brewery are the co-sponsors. The event will conclude on Saturday with the Pro-Am tournament at the Gokarna course.

“The tournament was initiated by the pilot-cum-golfers in 2007 and was played for three editions before it was stopped. The event has been revived from this year and will be a yearly tournament under Surya Nepal Golf Tour,” said Nepal PGA.

A total of 31 pros will take part in the main event along with 13 amateur golfers.

After three rounds, top 21 pros will get cash prizes. Out of the total cash purse of Rs 300,000, the winner will receive Rs 55,000, while second and third placed pros will earn Rs 37,000 and Rs 25,000 respectively.
