Golfers off to Korea
KATHMANDU: A three-member amateur golfers left for Seoul today to participate in the Nomura Cup golf tournament.
Tashi Ghale, Rupak Acharya and Wangchen Dhondup will compete in the individual and team event scheduled for September 15-18 at the Seoul Namseoul Country Club. Another golfer Tashi Tsering will join the three from Hong Kong. “We are hoping for top 10 finish at least,” said Acharya adding that winning the event would be big ask as they will be competing against the best golfers of the Asian region.
Acharya is also due to participate in the Asia Pacific Panasonic Open, to be held on September 24-27, at the Kyoto Country Club in Japan. After competing in the Nomura Cup, Acharya is slated for leave for Japan on September 20, where he will be joined by professional golfer Shivaram Shrestha. Shrestha is currently undergoing training in the United States.
Nepal Golf Association (NGA) President Vinode SJB Rana and NGA Vice President Prachanda Man Shrestha bade farewell to the golfers here at the Royal Nepal Golf Club today.
