LALITPUR: Malpi and Innovative advanced to the girls’ section semi-finals of the basketball tournament under the 24th Gyan Carnival here on Monday.

Malpi defeated Little Angels’ 24-12 riding on Richa Prajuli’s 14 points, while Samanta Thapa netted 12 points as Innovative saw off Reliance 38-30. Despite the defeat, Reliance advanced to the last four.

Similarly, hosts Gyanodaya thrashed Sudesha 30-5 in which Ronika Malla contributed 12 points for the hosts.

In boys’ section, HIMS defeated Gyan Niketan 58-38 and Bhanubhakta saw off Kavya 19-15 to make it to the quarter-finals.

In football tournament, Gyanodaya, Kavya and Malpi advanced to the semi-finals.

The hosts beat Innovative 6-0, Kavya outplayed Gyan Niketan 5-0 and Malpi defeated Shreekul 5-0.
