HICAST, CIT advance to quarter-finals

Man of the match Ranjan Shrestha scored a half century as College of Information Technology
(CIT) defeated Purwanchal University School of Engineering and Technology (PUSET) by three wicktes and Himalayan College of Agricultural Sciences and Technology (HICAST) beat Kantipur City College ‘B’ by four wickets and advanced to the quarter-finals of the third KCC Running Trophy Inter-college Cricket Tournament here today. The Himalayan Times is the official media of the event. Batting first, PUSET scored 144 runs losing nine wickets in 25 overs. Opener Amit Surana and Anup Shrestha scored 31 off 32 balls each. Surana hit four boundaries while Shrestha slammed five. Sarwan Thakur and Surjit Bhumik contributed 22 and 10 runs respectively.
For CIT, Aamod Acharya claimed three wickets conceding 14 runs in five overs whereas Bijay, Dorjee and Mayush pocketed one wicket each. In reply, CIT overcame the target in 23.1 overs losing seven wickets. Opener Ranjan Shrestha scored 69 off 72 balls including eight hits to the fence. Dorjee Sherpa contributed 16. For PUSET, Krishna Tamrakar grabbed three wickets while Kishor Basnet and Anup Shrestha claimed two and one wicket respectively. In the other match, KCC accumulated 98 runs losing nine wickets in 20 overs. Santosh Karki scored 16 runs while opener Rajiv Acharya scored 12 runs with two fours. For HICAST, Suresh Gyawali, Husnaid Azad and Amit Bhandari claimed two wickets apiece while Niraj Baskota took one. In reply, HICAST reached the target in 18.4 overs losing six wickets. Dhanej Thapa top-scored with 44 off 37 balls, which inluded six boundaries. For KCC, Aliz Shrestha and Ashish Pradhan took two wickets each whereas Nihit Pokharel claimed one.
On Saturday, KCC ‘A’ will take on Eastern Engineering College at IoE ground.
