Himalayan Bank Cup golf c’ship tees off today

Kathmandu, February 20:

The Himalayan Bank Ltd is organising the second Himalayan Bank Cup Golf Championship from February 21-26 at Gokarna Forest Golf Resort.

The tournament is divided into two categories — professional and amateur. From this edition, the bank also included the competition in professional section. More than 100 golfers from Royal Nepal Golf Club, Tribhuvan Army Officer’s Club, Nirvana Country Club of Dharan and Himalayan Golf Club of Pokhara are expected to take part in the competition.

In all, 24 golfers will vie for the top honours in professional section, which will be played from February 21-24. The total prize money of the event is Rs 1,50,000. The amateur competition will be held on February 26. Apart from the running shield, the winners will also get prizes in different 11 categories.

The sum collected from the entrance fees — Rs 1,000 each — would be kept aside for the overall development of golf in Nepal. The estimated cost for the tournament is 7,50,000.
