HIMS beat Diamond; Namuna Machhindra win
KATHMANDU: Himalayan International Model School (HIMS) defeated Diamond English School 2-0 in the Group ‘D’ match of the Coca-Cola Inter-school National Football Tournament qualifiers here at the Sanogaucharan grounds on Monday.
Tenzing Soyang scored late in the 63rd minute before Yadyup Bantawa added the second in the 77th minute for HIMS. In the other match from the same pool, Namuna Machhindra Secondary School edged past Bagmati Boarding School 5-4 in sudden death penalty shootout after a 1-1 draw in regular time. Rajiv Rai had extended the match into penalty shootout with 43rd minute equalizer after Bikash Basnet had put Bagamti ahead in the 20th.
In the Group ‘C’ matches held here, Janapravat Secondary School beat IJ Pioneer 3-2 and Little Moon School saw off West Open School 2-0. Sushan Dumi (1st), Nabin Sorali (6th) and Arun Pariyar (63rd) scored for Janapravat while Ashish Raut (17th) and Nishan Limbu (45th) replied for IJ Pioneer. In the other match, Inkesh Lama (3rd) and Phurwa Lama (28th) struck a goal each for Little Moon.
At the FIFA Technical Centre in Chyasal, Jalpa School recorded a 6-0 rout against Snowland School. Saroj Bisunke scored a brace (59th, 64th) while Shyam Krishna Mali (22nd), Krishna Lal Mali (32nd), Subhash Thapa (53rd) and Prabin Shrestha (75th) added one goal each for Jalpa School.
In the second match, Brihaspati School hammered Deep Shikha 6-1. Ujjwol Gurung netted twice (34th, 45th) and Om Dorje (10th), Bishal KC (13th), Sashant Shrestha (20th) and Krijan Shrestha (74th) scored a goal each for Brihaspati. Bishnu Tamang pulled back a consolation goal in the 75th minute for Deep Shikha. Also, Roshan Karki struck twice in the 49th and 65th minute to steer Padmodaya High School to a 2-0 victory over Grammar Public School.
In the last match here, Danfe English School sneaked to a 2-1 victory over Saraswoti English Boarding School. Ashon Maharjan (19th minute) and Santosh Chaudhary (33rd) scored for Danfe School while Riwesh Shrestha replied for Saraswoti in the 65th minute.
