Hong Kong join Nepal in semis

Hong registered their third win to enter the last four of the ACC Under-15 Elite Cup cricket tournament from Group A here today.
Afghanistan topped Group B with their fourth consecutive win, while Singapore and Malaysia also won today. With Nepal already in the semi-finals from Group A, the other slot from Group B will be decided on Friday. The match between Nepal and Hong Kong at TU Stadium on Friday will decide Group winner.
At Birendra Sainik Awasiya Mahavidyalaya, Hong Kong defeated Thailand by 28 runs. Put into bats first, Hong Kong were bowled out for 148 runs in 37.2 overs, while Thailand could only manage 120 in 37 overs.
Nizakat Khan hit a half century with two sixes and seven fours after a 35-run opening stand between Sagar Chandra (16) and Miten Khatri (11). Khan who saw five batsmen falling at the other end, scored 69-ball 57. For Thailand, Weerachai Maneerat took 5-19 off 6.2 overs and Kshitij Jhaveri claimed 2-20.
Thailand had a poor start in their run chase and lost wickets in regular intervals. No 7 Ishan Kalra top-scored with 24, while man of the match Maneerat made 23 and Jai Bhagwat 20. Nizakat Khan took 3-34 and Mark Chapman 2-18 for Hong Kong.
At Institute of Engineering, Afghanistan bowled out Kuwait for 60 runs in 28 overs and chased the total losing three wickets. Opener Apoorv S Gaur top-scored with 15, while Saud Shakeel Khateeb made 10 for Kuwait. Man of the match Hameed and Matiullah took three wickets each for Afghanistan. In reply, Md Anweer scored 32 off 39 balls, while Safiullah remained unbeaten on 20.
At TU Stadium, Singapore beat Saudi Arabia by 48 runs. Batting first, Singapore accumulated 206/8 in 40 overs riding on an impressive half century from Rezza Gaznavi and then restricted Saudi Arabia for 148/8. Gaznavi struck five fours and a six in his 65-ball 68 for Singapore, while Prasheen Param made 29 and Usman Manazir scored 26. Farhan Kazi finished with 3-43 for Saudi Arabia. In reply, Saudi Arabia lost wickets in quick succession after a opening stand of 33 between Abdul Wahid (21) and Emaduddin (10). Farhan Kazi scored fighting 29 of 70 balls. For Singapore, man of the match Reeza Gazavi took 2-17 and Abhiraj Rajdeep claimed 2-23.
At Laboratory School, Malaysia defeated Oman by six wickets. Oman were bowled out for 152 in 39 overs and Malaysia achieved the target losing four wickets in 35.4 overs. Saud Haroon Khan made unbeaten 39 off 52 balls including six fours and a six whereas Milind Paresh Bhujwala scored 31. For Malaysia, man of the match Pavithren Nadaesen took 4-20, while Mohamad Ramdan Samsudin and skipper Keithan Goonasagaran claimed two wickets each.
Malaysian had a disastrous start in their run chase losing first wicket for three runs, but opener Zubair Asyraff (25) and skipper Goonasagaran (23) shared the second-wicket stand of 53 runs to pull their team out of trouble.
Mohammed Hazim Norhaizan scored unbeaten 44 to guide his team home after the fourth-wicket stand of 60 runs with Mohammed Ammar Rusli (24). Vaisal Mukund Mehta and Nikhil Kuruvilla Xavier took two wickets each for Oman.
