Hosts Soaltee enter last eight

Kathmandu, October 23:

The Himalayan Bank, hosts Soaltee, Surya Nepal and Kantipur Group entered the quarter-finals of the Soaltee Crowne Plaza Super Sixes Cricket Tournament today.

Defending champions Indian Embassy and Standard Chartered Bank are already in the last eight.

The Himalayan Bank defeated The Himalayan Times by 47 runs. Batting first, Himalayan Bank scored 76-1 and packed THT for 29-2. Siddhartha Sharma retired after scoring 35 off just 14 balls, while Rajendra Luitel scored an unbeaten 22 off 13 balls. Prabha Srivastav scored not out 15 for THT.

Soaltee beat Pakistan Embassy by three wickets. Batting first, Pakistan Embassy scored 47-4 and the hosts overcame the target losing three wickets in the last ball.

In the other match, Soaltee beat Shikhar Insurance by 16 runs. Soaltee were bowled out for 45 runs in 4.4 overs but restricted Shikhar Insurance for 29-2.

In Group C, Surya Nepal bounced back to beat NIC Bank by 33 runs after their three-run loss to Nabil Bank. Against NIC Bank, Surya Nepal scored 66-4 and packed their opponents for 33 runs in 4.1 overs.

In the other match, Nabil Bank piled up 81-0 in five overs and Surya Nepal reached 78-1. Also, Nabil Bank defeated NIC Bank by five wickets.

In Group D matches, United Finance (50-0) defeated Fedex Express (47-4) by six wickets; Spice Nepal (39-0) beat United Finance (38-6) by six wickets; Citizens Bank (89-3) outplayed The Everest Bank (33-6) by 56 runs; and Avenues TV (76-2) beat NMB Bank (59-5) 17 runs.
