ICC considering changes in ODIs
New Delhi, July 10:
The International Cricket Council (ICC) is investigating options to reinforce interest One Day Internationals amid concern it may fade out with the rise of the Twenty20 format.
Dave Richardson, the ICC’s general manager of cricket, says preserving the interest in the 50-over matches is a major challenge confronting administrators.
The bulk of players believe Test cricket is the pinnacle, but Twenty20 is rapidly emerging as the preferred choice in the shortened version of the game.
Among the proposed changes under discussion is a reduction of one-day internationals to 40 overs a side with both teams having two innings of 20 overs.
