KATHMANDU: The International Cricket Council has given clean chit to Raju Rijal, skipper of the Nepal U-19 cricket team, who was accused of being overage.

Kaustub Pawar, an Indian cricketer, had accused Rijal of being overage.

Pawar, on his Facebook account on Monday, had alleged that he and Rijal had played together a decade ago in an U-15 cricket team.

Issuing a statement on Tuesday, the ICC said that it "looked into the matter" and reviewed Rijal's documents, which were submitted by the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) before the tournament and concluded that there was no evidence to suggest that his date of birth-September 26, 1996-was incorrect.

The ICC said that it spoke to the officials of the CAN and verified the documents to the birth of the player.

The documents the ICC reviewed included copies of his passport and birth certificate, issued by Nepal, and a signed age determination declaration.

"Since there was no evidence to suggest these documents were not genuine, the ICC considered the matter closed unless new information came up," the ICC's statement said.

"Unless any new information comes to light, the ICC considers this matter closed," the statement further said.
