Nepal lose to Jersey by 7 wickets, get knocked out from ICC World T20 Qualifiers

KATHMANDU: Nepal lost to Jersey by seven wickets in their Group A match of ICC World Twenty20 Qualifiers at Malahide, Dublin on Saturday.

Jersey, who won the toss and put Nepal to bat first, raced to the target of 106 runs in 17th over. They made 107/3 with 23 balls remaining.

Jonty Jenner top-scored for Jersey with unbeaten 30 off 26. He hit two fours and two sixes.

Peter Gough and Cornelis Bodenstein made 27 each, while Ben Stevens added 13.

Shakti Gauchan and Paras Khadka took one wicket.

With two wins from five games, Jersey have four points and displaced Nepal from the fifth position from the table. Today's was Nepal's sixth match. They have lost four matches, won one and witnessed no result in one.

Papua New Guinea top the table with seven points after four matches, while Ireland are in the second postion with six points after playing five matches.

With today's loss, Nepal have been knocked out from the tournament.

ICC World T20 Qualifiers: Nepal post 106-run target for Jersey

KATHMANDU: Nepal have posted a target of runs to Jersey in their Group A match of the ICC World Twenty20 Qualifiers in Dublin.

In the match being played at the Malahide Cricket Stadium, Jersey won the toss and invited Nepal to bat first.

Nepal made 105/8 in 20 overs.

Debutant Siddhant Lohani top-scored for Nepal with 27 off 16, while Gyanendra Malla made 26. Sharad Vesawkar made 16 while captain Paras Khadka 11. Nepal got six extras.

Nat Watkins took three Nepali wickets at the cost of 21 runs, while Anthony Kay claimed two for 18 runs. Ben Stevens, Charles Perchard and Cornelis Bodenstein also took one each to restrict Nepal to 105.
