Kathmandu, November 19:
Indian Embassy defeated Kumari Bank by four wickets in the final of the ninth Soaltee Crowne Plaza (SCP) Super Sixes cricket tournament here at the TU Stadium today.
Batting first, Kumari Bank scored 61 runs losing three wickets in allotted five overs, and the Indian Embassy overcame the target losing two wickets.
Earlier in the semi-finals, Indian Embassy beat Kantipur Publications by five wickets and Kumari Bank made it to the final with a four-run win over Himalayan Bank. In quarter-finals, Himalayan Bank beat Chaudhary Group by 13 runs, Indian Embassy beat Machhapuchchre Bank by four wickets, Kantipur Publications beat Standard Chartered Bank by 37 runs, and Kumari Bank edged past Surya Nepal by one run.
Manjay Pandey of Kumari Bank was named the man of the series, while Rohit Sharma of Himalayan Bank and Pravin Karna of Kantipur Publications were adjudged the best batsman and bowler respectively. All the three players got trophies, Mero Mobile SIM cards with Motorola G7 phones, Delhi-Hong Kong-Delhi air tickets from Cathay Pacific, Swiss Army watches from Time World and gift hampers from Glucon D.
Education and Sports Minister Dr Mangal Siddhi Manandhar, CEO of Amarawati International Bishwajeet Ghosh, CEO of Spice Nepal Dmitry Zaika and officiating General Managers at the Soaltee Crowne Plaza Rajeev Shrestha and Pralhad Kunwar gave away prizes to the winners.
