Nepalgunj, February 26 Defending champions Indian Railway Volleyball Team, Tribhuvan Army Club and Nepal APF Club advanced to the semi-finals of the fourth PM Cup Women’s Volleyball Tournament here at the Nepalgunj Stadium covered hall today. Indian Railway thrashed Mid-western Region in straight sets to remain unbeaten in two matches and also topped Group A. The group comprised of three teams. Indian Railway, who had beaten Nepal Police Club on Saturday, were dominant against Mid-western from very first set by winning it 25-8. Mid-west were also hapless in the second set as they surrendered it by 25-3 and showed no signs of improvement in the third set as the visitors took it 25-7. Similarly, TAC defeated Barshat Association of India in straight sets of 25-17, 25-19, 25-17 and made it to last four along with APF from Group B. AFP had also recorded a win against Barshat Association on Saturday. Barshat Association, who lost both matches, were knocked out of the tournament from group stage. The match between TAC and APF on Monday will determine the Group B winners. NPC will take on Mid-western in Group A match on the same day. Meanwhile, Tribhuvan Army Club coach Lok Bahadur Budha said beating Indian side was a matter of achievement for his team. “TAC is comprised of new players and they have been putting up tough fights. We can beat APF or NPC if we keep the momentum going,” said Budha. Barshat Association coach Ashish Shah said the team had majority of junior players and they got nervous in the court. “This is the first time we travelled beyond the Indian border for any tournament and we were also not aware that such high profile teams would be taking part in the tournament. We will return next year as a strong side and with adequate preparations,” the Barshat Association coach said.
