Hetauda, January 10

Suman Bhomjan Memorial Sports Academy today rescheduled the International Invitational Gold Cup Football Tournament for February 13-20 in Hetauda.

The tournament was originally scheduled for December 12-19 but the organisers were forced to postpone the event due to blockade.

“We announced the dates after a meeting with the All Nepal Football Association officials and the sponsors are also ready to help us in organising the tournament,” said Academy President Bhekh Khadki at a press meet today.

“We have already stated the renovation of the grounds at Institute of Forest Sciences and we are also planning to construct a 500-capacity temporary parapet,” he added.

The Academy is organising the tournament in memory of sports journalist Suman Bhomjan who lost his life in earthquake.

“Three Star Club, Tribhuvan Army Club, Nepal Police Club, Nepal APF Club, Jhapa-XI, Kanchanjungha of India and CMC of Bhutan have confirmed registration,” Neupane said.

“We are in process of forming a local side,” he added. The winners of the tournament will receive Rs 300,000, while the runners-up will get Rs 150,000.

The best players of the tournament and man-of-the-match in all games will also be rewarded with cash prizes.
