Kathmandu, May 25

Shree Janasudhar, Oracle, Xavier International and Mandala International School registered wins in the Coca-Cola Cup Inter-school Football Tournament here on Wednesday.

In the district-level tournament match, Shree Janasudhar defeated Nightingale Higher Secondary School 2-0 riding on a goal each from Chandan Das and Bikki Tamang. Das provided lead to Shree Janasudhar in the seventh minute, while Tamang sealed the victory with a goal in the 69th minute.

In day’s second match, Oracle edged past Guheshwori Higher Secondary School 4-2 on penalties after the teams were deadlocked at 1-1 in regulation time. Guheshwori had taken the lead through a goal from Dipendra Magar in 67th minute, while Sabin Rokka scored the equaliser in 69th minute for Oracle.

In another match, Xavier beat Paragon Public School 2-0 riding on goals from Paijan Bhattarai and Risaj Chhetri. Bhattarai scored in the ninth minute before Chhetri netted another in 65th.

In the last match of the day, Mandala edged past Apple International School 1-0. Rajendra Shrestha scored the solitary goal in the 66th minute.

The tournament, which is organised jointly by Coca-Cola Nepal, All Nepal Football Association and Ministry for Youth and Sports, has been divided into three parts — district, regional and national. The district level matches will conclude on June 16 before regional tournaments (August 21-31). National tournament is slated for September 5-21.
