Jitendra, Rakesh in final

LALITPUR: Jitendra Pariyar and Rakesh Pariyar cruised to the men's singles final in the first AIA Open Tennis Tournament here at the Satdobato Tennis Court today.

Jitendra dispatced Jac Tsai 6-4, 7-5 while Rakesh eased to a comfortable 6-4, 6-1 win over Santosh Khatri in the semi-finals today.

Enterting the final in the Above-35yrs Veterans' section were Sanu Gurung and Rajiv Chhetri. Sanu beat Manoj Shah 6-1, 6-0 and Rajiv defeated Kamal Thapa 6-4, 6-3 at the Nepal APF headquarters in Halchowk. Likewise, Uttam Lama, Dampa Dunuk, Prithvi Thakali and Manoj Rana advanced to the semi-finals in the Above-45yrs Veterans' section. Uttam battled to a 6-4, 10-9 victory over Kamal Thapa as did Dampa against Pravin Bhaidya. Dampa edged past Pravin 7-6, 10-9. In the other two quarter-finals, Prithvi saw off Jivan Ghimire 7-5, 6-3 and Manoj Rana overcame Karma Ghale 6-3, 6-2.

The duo of Malika Rana and Dipendra Pariyar along with Lindsay Sulivan and Jac Tsai have already secured their place in the mixed doubles final on Tuesday. Also making it to the veterans' doubles final on Tuesday were the duo of Soviet Man Shrestha and Chandra Shahi and Manoj Rana and Sanu Gurung.
